Golden Dawn.

Let´s get it over with. I know I am somewhat insane, so nobody needs to tell me that. Good. On with the Olympics. I did get up at 7 AM to watch the men´s football goldmedal match. Ok, get up is a wrong term since I switched the TV on and stayed in bed until the half time, but woke up to see it. I´m not sorry I did so, it was pretty nice match. Of course I am happy Argentina won, but Nigeria played truly well too. They just didn´t have anyone to pass the ball the way Messi got it to Di Maria. It was a sweet goal. It could have been a lot more active game, but I understand that the infernal heat (some say the temperature was as high as 42 degrees celsius) wasn´t the optimal. For once I think the referee did a good job, handing out cards when it was obvious Argentina was playing time in the end. A fine final, not the best one I´ve seen, but at least I remember more than 45 minutes of this one... :D.

I did watch some synchronized swimming, the team competition of it. It looked kinda neat eventhough my first thought was "this is an extremely stupid sport". It wasn´t, the Russians were excellent, even I could tell that without knowing more than couple of facts about the sport. One of the Japanese swimmer girls was almost drowning at the end of their performance, but she got rescued and is recovering, so no harm done. Women´s high jump was also a big surprise. I would´ve put my money on Vlasic, but I´m glad I didn´t. I didn´t even remember Hallebaut before
I saw her jump. Actually it´s good that she beat the invincible Croat. The relays today were far from yesterday´s thrill, but Wariner was on the roll today when USA snatched the brightest medal.

Last but certainly not least the one sport most Finns had their eyes on this afternoon.
That´s right, the javelin throw. Yes, I´m truly unpatriotic, but I am sincerely happy that Andreas Thorkildsen got his second Olympic gold. He was consistent, and proved there is absolutely nothing wrong with his health or the way he throws. The others didn´t stand a chance. He was outstanding. I also love the way he manages to be so cool after a perfect throw. A little shrug, in a "yeah, I just did what I usually do" -style and maybe a smile. Every time he was throwing I kept my finger´s crossed and hoped he´ll make it. And that the Finns won´t do better than him. Don´t get me wrong here now. If it was up to me I would have given the silver and bronze to the two Teros. But it was up to them, and there were better guys... Glad to see Pitkämäki getting the bronze though. There were three guys I was hoping they´d get a gold and they did, so I´m pretty happy with their performances. Not the worst Olympics at any rate. I´m just thinking maybe I should start using someone as my bookmark again. He was once, but I took another. We´ll see.

Did catch some league football today, Dortmund-Bayern München. Not a very good match, the little I saw looked slow and lacked the entertaining element Bundesliga matches usually have. And Van Bommel, what kind of a captain takes a red card before it´s even tha half of the first half? Whatever. Apparently Liverpool pulled itself together and beat Middlesbro that was leading 1-0 after the first half. The final result was 2-1, if someone´s interested. Arsenal is playing Fulham soon, actually the kick is due in ten minutes.

Reached the last page of Breaking Dawn this afternoon. Like I wrote earlier, not my favourite, in a way a bit dull. I am not really digging the ending, just liked the beginning. But I´ve read it and I knew it was going to have a horrible happy end, so I can´t blame anyone. I´ve got a lot reading waiting, so I shouldn´t be too bored. And the library isn´t that far. But I must go through my bookshelf first, I have many books I haven´t even read. Maybe I should do an inventory again...

More when I feel like it. Until that, take a look at Christo´s photos. I absolutely love his artwork, I am amazed every time I see a new photo by him. That man really has talent. Enjoy.
